Driving Test, Disabilities and the Law,
Publications and Instructional techniques.

To pass you require 85 marks. (There are 25 marks available for each section you must score at least 20 marks in each section). Additionally there is the Hazard Perception test which must be taken and passed at the same time.

We offer a combination of learning techniques and styles, including:

You are allowed unlimited attempts to pass your part 1 test.

Training for Part One and Part Two (theory and driving ability) can be taken at the same time to reduce the time it takes to finish the course.

Candidates will also have to complete five manoeuvres accurately, under full control and using all round effective observation. During the test candidates will also be asked to drive independently following pre-set directions and following road signs. You will also be asked five "show me, tell me" questions, 2 "Show me" questions will be asked on the move and 3  "Tell me" questions will be asked before the drive begins.

A maximum of six driver errors (minor faults) are permitted with no serious or dangerous errors allowed.

We offer training consisting of a combination of learning techniques and styles, including:

We have found that on average you will require approximately 20 hours of tuition to reach the high standards required for the driving ability test.

You will only be allowed 3 attempts at the part 2 test.

Training for Part One and Part Two (theory and driving ability) can be taken at the same time to reduce the time it takes to finish the course.

ADI PART THREE (Instructional Ability)

You will by now have proved that you have the knowledge and driving skills by passing your Part One and Part Two tests, all you have to do now, is show that you can teach others your new skills.

The Part Three test requires the candidate to give a client-centred driving lesson lasting about an hour to one of your pupils.  The DVSA examiner will look for evidence that you meet the national standard for driver and rider training.

Your pupil  - Your pupil can be a learner or a full licence holder. (You can take your trainer or mentor with you, but they can’t take part in the lesson).

What you’ll be marked on
You’ll be marked on 17 areas of competence that are grouped into 3 categories:

lesson planning
risk management
teaching and learning strategies
The 17 areas of competence are listed in the ADI part 3 test report form, which the examiner will fill in at the end of your test.

You’ll get a score from 0 to 3 for each of the 17 competencies, which are added up to work out if you’ve passed the test, and what your grade will be.

We offer 40 hours (minimum) one to one in car training with a FIVESTAR Instructor Trainer. (40 hours is the statutory number of hours required by the DSA to be signed off by your trainer prior to a part three test). *Extra hours training may be required for a candidate to reach an acceptable standard.

You will only be allowed 3 attempts at your part 3 test.

You have two years from the date you pass your part one test to take and pass your part three examination.

*At this point it is possible to to take up the option of a six month trainee licence which allows you to teach for six months whilst continuing your training towards the part three examination. If you you decide to take this rout a further 20 hours of tuition is required within the first three months of your licence.  "Click here" for link to the ADI21T (instructor training declaration form).
